Invite a Guest to Your Money Mastery System
For the primary owner who wants to give a spouse, assistant, bookkeeper, accountant, or business partner structured access — using the correct in-app guest flow, not a Drive share.
Who You Can Invite
Before You Start
Confirm these three things before you open the guest menu. Click each item when you've verified it.
The Steps
From inside the workbook, open the top menu and navigate to:
Money Mastery → Manage Guests
Use the official guest-management area. Do not try to create access by inventing your own workaround, and do not tell the guest to use your own access key.
Enter the guest's email address exactly as it should be used for login. The guest flow keys off the email itself — if they open the sheet from a different Google account, the system may treat them as unauthorized even if the email is only slightly off.
Double-check all of these before submitting:
- Spelling — no transposed letters
- Dots and domains — name@domain.com not name@doomain.com
- Work email vs personal email — confirm which one they'll actually use
- Whether they will actually sign into Google with that address
Submit the guest invite through the in-app guest system. Depending on the flow and the build state, the system may:
- Create a guest record tied to their email
- Generate a temporary PIN or first-time access path
- Send an email invite or prepare the access internally for guest setup
What matters most is that the invite is created through the correct menu and tied to the right email.
When you send a guest into the system, tell them two things:
- Which email to use — the exact one you invited
- Not to follow the primary-owner registration steps — they are not supposed to go hunting for an access key if they were invited as a guest
They should follow the guest-access path instead. Send them to the Guest First-Time Access article if they need a walkthrough.
If the guest does not get in successfully the first time, go back into Manage Guests and verify:
- The guest was actually added
- The email is correct
- They are opening the sheet from the same invited Google account
This is often where the issue lives — not in the system, but in which account is open.
If you no longer want someone to have access, use the Manage Guests area to remove them.
Do not assume that stopping communication or removing a shared Drive shortcut handles the full in-app access state. Use the guest-management flow directly.
What the Manage Guests Area Looks Like
Here's a representation of what you're working with inside the guest-management flow:
Guests only gain full access when they open the workbook from the invited email address.
Getting the Email Right
The most common reason guest access appears broken is a mismatch between the invited email and the one they're actually signed in with. Use this checklist:
Common Mistakes
What Not to Click or Do
You'll know this is set up correctly when:
- The guest was added through the official guest flow
- The guest knows which email to use
- The guest is not trying to register as the primary owner
- You can see or confirm the guest's status from the system side if needed
