What This Tutorial Is For
This tutorial teaches you how to use Clarity AI & Reports well — not just how to click into it, but how to actually get meaningful value out of it.
Because there are really four different powers living inside this one area:
This is where your system stops being just "organized" and starts becoming interpretable.
Where to Find It
Open the top menu in your sheet:
This opens a dedicated reports window where you can choose a pre-built report, set date ranges and filters, build a custom report, preview the result, open the full version, save as PDF, share by email, or generate a Clarity AI prompt from it.
Part 1 — How to Think Before You Click Anything
Before you build a report, ask yourself one question:
That question matters more than people think. Users often open reports and start clicking based on curiosity, then end up with a page full of numbers they don't really need.
Part 2 — Choose the Right Pre-Built Report
When you open Clarity AI & Reports, you'll see a list of report types. These are not random — each one answers a different kind of financial question. Click any report below to see when to use it.
Part 3 — How to Build a Standard Report Well
Once you choose a report, the quality of what you get depends on the setup. Don't just generate — set it up intentionally.
- Choose the report type — pick the one that best matches the question you're asking.
- Set the date range intentionally — a report for last 30 days, last quarter, year to date, or a custom span can tell completely different stories. If you are asking a narrow question, give it a narrow date range. If strategic, widen it.
- Use category filters where relevant — reduce noise. Use this when you don't need a "whole life" report — you need a "show me only this specific slice" report.
- Generate the report — click Generate Report. Once finished, you'll get a preview title, date range, KPI/stat cards, and a full report preview.
Part 4 — How to Use the Custom Report Builder
Use the Custom Builder when the pre-built report types are close, but not quite right. This is ideal when your question is more specific than a standard report type — things like combining business profit, payments, and savings behavior together, or building something for an accountant that excludes noise.
How to Write a Strong Custom Prompt
A weak prompt is vague. A strong prompt tells the system what lens you want.
Part 5 — How to Read the Report Preview
After you generate a report, the system gives you a preview section that includes: the report title, the date range, key stats/KPI cards, and a full report preview in an embedded viewer.
Use the preview for three things:
- Check that you asked for the right thing
- Check that the date range and filters make sense
- Decide whether this report is ready to save, share, or refine
Part 6 — How to Get the Most Out of Clarity AI
This is the part many users underuse unless it is explained clearly.
What "Ask Clarity AI" actually does: When you click Ask Clarity AI, the system does not silently rewrite your report behind the scenes. Instead, it prepares a personalized prompt based on the report you generated — then lets you copy the prompt, open ChatGPT, and continue the analysis there.
This is not a vague "AI button." It is a handoff tool that helps you ask better questions using the real report you already built.
When to use Clarity AI:
- You want help interpreting the report
- You want patterns explained in plain language
- You want ideas for what to pay attention to
- You want to turn a report into a more strategic conversation
- You want to prepare for a coaching call, reset call, or accountant conversation
Good follow-up prompts after a report is built:
Part 7 — How to Save a Report as a PDF
The button labeled Open Full Report / Save as PDF does not drop a PDF file instantly into your downloads. Instead, it builds the full styled report, opens it in a new tab, and lets you use your browser's print function to save it as a PDF.
Part 9 — How to Export Better Reports
The strongest reports usually have three qualities:
Part 10 — The Most Valuable Ways to Use Reports in Real Life
Clarity AI & Reports becomes especially powerful when used for real moments like:
- Preparing for a monthly reset
- Spotting why a month felt expensive
- Reviewing business health before decisions
- Preparing for tax conversations
- Sending clean summaries to an accountant
- Comparing savings goals to real behavior
- Understanding whether stress is coming from essentials, desires, or income variability
- Seeing whether spending patterns are changing or just repeating
This is when reporting stops being "interesting" and starts being useful.
Best Practice
Build the simplest report that answers the question clearly. Not the longest. Not the fanciest. Not the most data-heavy.
The simplest one that creates clarity.
Then, if needed: refine it, filter it, export it, ask Clarity AI to go deeper. That sequence gets better results than starting with something overly complicated.
You'll know you used Clarity AI & Reports well when:
- You chose the report type on purpose
- The date range matched the real question
- The preview looked clean and believable
- Your custom prompt was specific enough to guide the report
- You knew whether to save, share, or refine it
- You understood how to open the full report and save it as PDF
- You used Clarity AI to deepen the analysis rather than replace your thinking
